Please remember when buying vintage purses there are normally minor imperfections unless these are very noticable or detract from the style or attractiveness of the item they are not normally mentioned.
LOOKING FOR PERFECTION - VINTAGE IS NOT FOR YOU!
(Mint Condition) MINT - As close to "new" as possible for its age. No problems.
(Excellent Condition) Normal wear expected for age. Any problems are not easily visible.
(Gently Used) Normal wear expected for age. Shows very minimal wear
(Used) A purse that was used everyday. Not abused.... but used, shows more noticeable wear.

Corde' handbags from the 40's. Corde' handbags were created using rows of gimp in unique patterns stitched to a fabric background. Clear Lucite pulls or handles were added to give these handbags and even more distinct look. Tortoise colored Lucite accented others. Advertised in the 1940's as the longest wearing of all the handbag fabrics. This statement seems to ring true since these handbags have traveled through time with refinement, elegance and last ability.

A UNIQUE Corde' shaped box purse from the 1940's. Most Corde' gimp bags were solid colors of dark blue, brown and black and this copper metallic gimp box purse is rare indeed. A gimp diamond pattern has deco flair. The frame is copper-colored metal with a heavy copper-colored wristlet length chain. The interior is lined with brown satin with an open sidewall pocket. This is a VERY RARE 40's black gimp Corde' handbag. An etched root beer colored band circles the oval shaped purse. The Corde' strap has a matching Lucite band and is long enough to slip onto your shoulder. The brass zipper opens up to expose an interior lined with black taffeta with an open sidewall pocket on each sidewall. All the decades of travel a cord trim has been added for support along the zipper wall which adds even more appeal. Corde' handbags were apart of the Golden era of Hollywood era and watching these movies you can always see the Corde' handbags being carried by famous movie stars such as Joan Crawford pictured. This is a lovely super long black Corde' handbag. The black gimp is gathers along the top and has a large zippered compartment on each side of the stunning clear etched Lucite handle. One zipper pull is thick clear Lucite and the other is an etched brass glove holder. The interiors are lined in a striped taffeta. One compartment has two open pockets with a marching coin purse. The other compartment has an open pocket with a two-sided mirror resting within. The pocket is stamped in gold lettering "JR Creation". Also labeled "Genuine Corde". Tucked away and never used.
